On October 28, 2008, the Ontario government tabled proposed legislation that will ban the use of hand-held devices to talk, email or send text messages while driving. The law would not apply to the use of hands-free devices or using cellphones for 911 calls. Global positioning systems (GPS) will be allowed, as long as they're properly secured to the dashboard.

It is likely that the newest legislation (above) regarding a ban on cell phones and other related electronics will become a reality. As such more people will likely be looking to have darker tint installed on their vehicles (Driver/Passenger front compartment). In areas of the country where the law still allows for tinted film on the front windows, i.e. Ontario, we do not want to see a total ban like in other provinces. As such it is important, as an industry, that we avoid installing film darker than 35% VLT in this situation.
